The Maintenance Open trophy heads to Pohick Bay. Sean Owens and his team won the title by one shot. Jeff Van Fleet and his staff had the golf course in great shape, and it was great to get back to the home of this event. We had 19 teams in total and everyone enjoyed the golf, food and camaraderie.
Can you believe half of 2022 is already in the rearview mirror?
The Greater Washington association closed out the season with the Annual meeting at Evergreen Country Club. Chris McCarthy and his staff had the golf course in immaculate shape as always, and the weather could not have been better. There were many deserving winners but unfortunately nobody took home any of the hole in one prizes.
The first annual Greater Valley Cup played at The Caverns Country Club ended with a 24-18 victory for the Shenandoah Valley association. Credit goes to Eric Ferrell and the whole staff at The Caverns, as they had the golf course in immaculate condition even after 1.5” rain the prior day. This joint event will hopefully continue for many years to come.
Virginia GCSA wins the 2021 Virlina Cup. Scott Cornwell comes from 4 down with 4 to play, to secure the final ½ point for the win. Our Greater Washington association was well represented by Patrick McNamara our president and Scott Cornwell.
The group from Augustine Golf Club retained the 2021 Maintenance Open trophy, at Stonewall Golf Club on September 15th.
What an incredible event at Potomac Shores for our June meeting. It has been two years since the last Two Man Championship and while it was a long wait the event was a huge success. We had our largest participation in many years, and Mother Nature played her part as the we were gifted with fantastic weather.
