The 30th anniversary of the Greater Washington Golf Course Superintendents Association's annual event at Evergreen Country Club marks a significant milestone in the history of the association. Glenn Smickley, Tim Hanes, Bob Wren, and many others traveled from various corners of the country to attend this event. Their presence not only amplifies the significance of this milestone but also underscores the event's reputation as a premier platform for industry networking, knowledge sharing, and the celebration of a shared passion of the golf industry.

CCF takes Maintenance Open title

The team from Country Club of Fairfax took the Maintenance Open title in convincing style, winning by three shots. Jeff Van Fleet and his staff had the golf course is incredible shape once again for one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Greater Valley Cup

Greater Valley Cup

The first annual Greater Valley Cup played at The Caverns Country Club ended with a 24-18 victory for the Shenandoah Valley association. Credit goes to Eric Ferrell and the whole staff at The Caverns, as they had the golf course in immaculate condition even after 1.5” rain the prior day. This joint event will hopefully continue for many years to come.

The Greater Washington association closed out the season with the Annual meeting at Evergreen Country Club. Chris McCarthy and his staff had the golf course in immaculate shape as always, and the weather could not have been better. There were many deserving winners but unfortunately nobody took home any of the hole in one prizes.

Virginia GCSA wins the 2021 Virlina Cup. Scott Cornwell comes from 4 down with 4 to play, to secure the final ½ point for the win. Our Greater Washington association was well represented by Patrick McNamara our president and Scott Cornwell.

What an incredible event at Potomac Shores for our June meeting. It has been two years since the last Two Man Championship and while it was a long wait the event was a huge success. We had our largest participation in many years, and Mother Nature played her part as the we were gifted with fantastic weather.
